The handset manufacturer Lava Mobiles introduces Lava Android tablet in February 2012 which sport a 7 inch capacitive touch type display and house a 1GHz processor. Android 2.3 based tablet will be available at Rs. 5,500/-.

The company is now looking forward to enter the smartphone market as well. Lava smartphones are expected to hit the market in the March/ April next year. Lava Mobiles is in preliminary talks with Intel for providing the processor for the tablet. The tablet comes pre-loaded with specific apps ranging from education to health

This unnamed Lava Android tablet will be launched in partnership with Telco in the market. Company also announced at a product launch that it expected to finish this fiscal year with revenues to the tune of INR 1000 crores. Lava is increasingly becoming an important player in the domestic market, and now it plans to expand in Africa and is looking at markets like Peru and Chile.
